In today’s time, our environment is getting polluted which in turn is creating severe climate change. Due to the continuously changing climate and increase in carbon emission the life expectancy of humans, as well as various organisms on the earth, is degrading. Keeping that in key issue District Administration with AAS-EHSAAS NGO took a pledge to grow a forest with the Meyawaki technique. This forest to be grown is named ECO-AAS meaning one hopes to protect our environment. To do so AAS-EHSAAS NGO took responsibility to prepare the land and supervising the work done. Whereas District Administration took responsibility to get the plantation done. The Land for this initiative was provided by the village Panchayat of Hambran where this whole plantation is being taken place.
On 13th August 2022, the ECO-AAS forest was inaugurated by District Commissioner Ludhiana Smt. Surabhi Malik (IAS). During the inauguration ceremony, she said that saving the environment is among the most important initiatives we all should take part in as it is directly impacting our life expectancy and the health of the planet we are living in. She told that there would be more such initiatives like ECO-AAS taking place in the coming future. During the event, the President of AAS-EHSAAS Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa told that their NGO has always aimed to help the people in need to do so they are working for protecting Children and women’s rights and working for the rehabilitation of the underprivileged. She said how come their NGO left out in protecting the environment as it is the issue which impacts all of us greatly and when we decided on the name only we thought of creating a hope to protect our environment and make our surroundings clean and green.
