ECO-AAS is an initiative undertaken by the District Administration in collaboration with AAS-EHSAAS NGO to increase tree coverage in the industrial area of Hambran Village, District Ludhiana. Under this initiative, Trees were provided by NREGA, the land being used was provided by the panchayat of Hambran Village and the plantation drive was supervised by the AAS-EHSAAS NGO under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Smt. Surabhi Malik. Today to mark the completion and look after the work done team from the NREGA, New Delhi comprising Sh. Suman Chatterjee (Director, Ministry of Power Government of India) and Sh. Vidya Nand Negi (Scientist, CGWB, Chandigarh) visited the ECO-AAS Forest at Hambran Village, Ludhiana. During the visit, Amarjit Bains ADC Khanna, Aparna M B IAS AC UT, Mr Suraj PCS EAC UT, Mr Harsh Aggarwal District development fellow (DDF), Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa AAP State Joint Secretary Youth (Punjab) and S. Ranjot singh Jagga Sarpanch Hambran village and people from Panchayat were also present. During the visit main motto was to look after how the work is done by the team of NREGA Beneficiaries. After the completion of the visit, the team was satisfied with how things have taken place and how trees were planted in the areas. After the visit, Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa (AAP State Joint Secretary Youth Punjab) told everyone about the cruciality of protecting our environment and growing more trees. She even told the media this visit of theirs has its own importance as the plantation of these trees was conducted a few weeks ago in the month of August during monsoon season and now the climate conditions are changing and we need to inspect the growth of these trees. She even told right now 2000+ trees are planted at these locations but our vision is once the current trees grow a little more in the coming months we’ll add more trees in this area to create a dense forest
